Britons Choose FIFA 07 in Xmas Rush
The popular football series defies bookmakers' predictions and spends another week on top.
Bookmakers in the UK have tipped Need For Speed: Carbon as the Christmas No. 1 for this year, but right now that snappy racer is trailing EA's other massively multiplatform hit FIFA 07.
As Christmas nears and the mainstream starts to bite with vigour, the most popular franchises in games are rising to the top. The one game to buck the trend is Microsoft's original outing Gears of War, which while slipping a few slots is still to be found in the smiles end of the chart.
This weekend sees the release of the Wii and the big question is whether Nintendo will have enough hardware ready to allow the best selling games to rise to the top of the multiplatform rankings.
There was one new game this week, with Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Vegas barely squeaking in to the Top 10.
The Top 10 games for the week ending 2 December, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
- FIFA 07 (EA)
- Need For Speed: Carbon (EA)
- Call of Duty 3 (Activision)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
- The Sims: Pets (EA)
- Gears of War (Microsoft)
- Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (LucasArts)
- WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2007 (THQ)
- Cars (THQ)
- Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubisoft)
