Alien RPG Bursts Out of Sega, KoTOR Dev
Obsidian jumps from Star Wars to Alien in its romp through the sci-fi classics.
Sega is continuing its relentless struggle to align itself better with Western tastes by snapping up the rights to the popular sci-fi hit Alien. The company is pairing with developer Obsidian Entertainment on a new RPG built upon the Oscar-winning flick.
According to a press release this week the as yet untitled game will "build upon the distinctive look and feel of the original films while utilizing next-generation technology to create an entirely different and unique Alien experience."
Exactly how Obsidian will do that is unclear, but gamers will look at the developer's impressive recent offerings, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2, as proof that the movie is in safe hands.
There's no release date attached to the project yet, but Sega has revealed that it will be out for PC and unspecified next generation consoles.
