Sega Shifts Gearbox Onto Alien Shooter
The movie adaptations continue with Sega picking popular developer to FPSify.
Days after announcing that Neverwinter Night 2 developer Obsidian would be making an Alien-themed RPG for Sega, the publisher has today announced that it has tapped Gearbox to make a first-person shooter game based on the sci-fi franchise.
Gearbox is best known as a developer of the successful World War II shooter Brothers In Arms and the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved.
As with the previous announcement, Sega is keeping the details of the game to itself for now, though Gearbox president Randy Pitchford describes it as, "one of those dream projects that is a perfect fit for our capability and our passion".
"Gearbox Software's FPS Alien title will retain the atmospheric look and feel of the original films while leveraging next-generation technology to create an entirely new interactive Alien experience," reads a blurb for the game on the company's Web site.
