Ex-Diablo II Creator Preps to Open Hellgate
Bill Roper and Flagship Studios are bringing to life a terrifying view of a future London infested with demons.
In Flagship Studios' vision of London 31 years from now, the city has been ravaged by an invasion of demons from the other side of the Hellgate. With Earth in ruins, it's up to the wielders of powers ancient and mysterious to save us all.
Hellgate: London has built a fair amount of hype based on its own merits, but its pedigree certainly isn't hurting. The game is the latest from Bill Roper, one of the lead creators of dungeon roaming megahit Diablo II.
Publisher Namco Bandai has avoided picking a precise date, but this week the company confirmed that Hellgate: London would be out sometime this summer.
Like Diablo II, Hellgate: London's longevity is going to come from the randomly generated dungeons, which are populated by all manner of nasties from the other side. To fell them, you create character from either the dark-magic fuelled Cabalists or the militaristic Templars.
