Epic Squashes Gears of War Bugs
There are new maps due later this week but for now you'll have to console yourself with fewer bugs.
Hot new Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War is a favourite among system owners right now. It's already sold 2.7 million copies worldwide and it's the most popular game on Xbox Live. But it's not perfect, and the game's developer is going to do something about that.
Epic's Mark Rein said on the game's forum on Monday that an update would be pushed out to Xbox 360 owners on Tuesday, 9 January, ahead of the free map upgrade coming later in the week.
Most of the 15 or so fixes have to do with Xbox Live multiplayer, including improvements to voice chat and more ways for the system to detect cheaters and deter people who quit ranked multiplayer matches.
The bug update comes just a day before two new maps are released. These include one map set around a downed Raven helicopter and another that takes place in a museum in capital city Sera. The free updates will be available to Xbox Live subscribers worldwide starting on Wednesday.
You can get a more specific rundown of the bugs targeted by the update at the Gears Of War forum.
