Wii Lands 36 Oldies for Winter
More games for the Virtual Console and some of them are even good.
The months after the debut of video game consoles are typically light in software, publishers having given their all to make the launch. In Nintendo's case, fears of a drought are being allayed by a drip-feed of downloadable games for the Virtual Console.
Nintendo said this week it has 36 games coming to the Virtual Console this winter. The company refused to break that down in detail, but we do know that among the three-dozen games are classics such as Mario Kart 64 and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 and SNES hit Super Mario World.
Though it's no surprise to hear that 20 of the 36 games are for Nintendo systems, the other systems are getting a look in too.
Sega revealed the identities of five of its nine Virtual Console games, which include Streets of Rage, Comix Zone, Gain Ground, Bio-Hazard Battle and Bonanza Bros. The remaining seven games due this winter are all from the Turbografx.
Observant Europeans will notice a split from the Virtual Console line-ups in the US and (especially) Japan. Nintendo's European branch says this is down to a requirement that games for Europe be available in all major European languages.
