BioShock Shuns Multiplayer, Demos
Irrational's game is all about the singleplayer, evidently.
Microsoft has worked hard to position the Xbox 360 as the multiplayer console of choice, but one of its biggest games this year is shunning online play altogether.
In a Q&A posted recently on the BioShock community site, 2K Games said that its subterranean first-person game would be singleplayer only, and not for no reason:
"BioShock features a compelling storyline that revolves around the experiences of one man as he enters the decaying world of Rapture," reads the Q&A. "Having a multiplayer component would have compromised the story we were trying to tell so we made the decision to keep this game as a single player experience."
Putting the game together is clearly taking its toll on the team, which is blowing off any teasers in favour of finishing the game. 2K Games is not planning a demo for either the Xbox 360 or the PC. But, says the Q&A, "Things could change".
The game is planned for release on PC and Xbox 360 in North America and Europe this June.
