Lord of the Rings Goes Massively Online
Enter Tolkien's imagination with your thousand closest friends this spring.
Many people probably approach the stupendously popular massively multiplayer online game World of Warcraft as a way for them to live in a world that reminds them of Lord of the Rings, so it'll be interesting to see what sort of effect the actual MMOG based on the franchise will have.
Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar does precisely what it implies, letting you create a character and enter a living Middle-earth. You'll be able to meet characters from the books, fight enemies such as the beastly Nazgul, and be able to envelop yourself in the mythos of the fantasy created by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Codemasters said this week that it is preparing Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar for its debut on 24 April.
The game is in the hands of American developer Turbine, itself no stranger to fictional worlds thanks to their time on the Asheron's Call and Dungeons & Dragons Online series.
