Mario Kart, News Channel Hit Wii
It's the Nintendo 64 one, but that's still better than some of the portware hitting the system.
Though it still holds a lot of promise, the quality and rate of games arriving in the Wii Shop for the Virtual Console have been somewhat disappointing - at least in Europe. But Nintendo fans have nothing to complain about this week, as the regular Friday update has brought a doozy.
Available right now on the Wii Shop is classic Nintendo-themed racer Mario Kart 64. The game will cost you 1000 Wii points, which is about £7.50. Joining Mario is one other title - Super Soldier for the Turbografx.
Since December, Nintendo has released more than 40 games from the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Mega Drive and Turbografx on the Wii Shop, and the response has been enthusiastic. Worldwide the company has already sold more than 1.5 million games for the Virtual Console.
Also available as a free download from Friday is the Wii News Channel. This lets you tap into a news feed from the Associated Press, using the globe interface seen in the Weather channel to filter regional content.
