Lost Planet Douses Burning Crusade
It's back to the top of the pile for Capcom's shooter.
Thousands of people lined up for the midnight launch of the first expansion pack for World of Warcraft, Burning Crusade, but the inevitable drop in sales suggests people have had their fill.
With Burning Crusade falling down to No. 5 for the week, it was up to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, subject of a heavy TV advertising campaign, to lead the charts for a second time. Lost Planet has now outsold Capcom's previous hit, Dead Rising, after just three weeks on sale.
Don't worry too much about the health of Burning Crusade though. Blizzard said last week that the game sold 2.4 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale, so a drop in sales is expected.
What is surprising is to see Wii games re-enter the chart, no doubt a side effect of Nintendo managing to get more systems into stores.
The Top 10 games for the week ending 27 January, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Capcom)
- FIFA 07 (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
- Wii Play (Nintendo)
- World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade (Blizzard)
- Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (Nintendo)
- World Snooker Championship 2007 (Sega)
- Need For Speed: Carbon (EA)
- Cars (THQ)
- Call Of Duty 3 (Activision)
