Ghostbusters Star Outs Movie Game
Dan Akroyd's not doing much acting these days, but he will be picking up the nuclear power pack for the rumoured videogame adaptation.
Actor Dan Akroyd has starred in more than 80 movies in his 33-year career in Hollywood, but his next performance is going to be something very different.
Akroyd, who played Dr Ray Stanz in the Ghostbusters trilogy, told the Edmonton Sun recently that while he's spending most of his time these days away from acting he would be reprising his most famous role in an upcoming videogame based on the flicks.
"Universal purchased the rights from Sony for a game. I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year," Akroyd told the Sun.
The one-time-comic's comments are yet more support for the speculation that there is a game coming based on the series, despite nothing official being announced.
The rumours sprang up in January when videos from what looked like a next-gen game hit YouTube. The videos have since been removed at the request of Sony's movie division.
Developer ZootFly afterwards confirmed that it was indeed working on the game, but that development had stalled due to quarrelling over the rights to the movie. Complicating matters was ZootFly's choice of the Xbox 360 as a platform - something Sony would not be too keen on supporting.
So will we ever see the game? Right now that answer lies with the lawyers.
