Britons Have No Trouble Finding Lost Planet
Continued success for the snows-'n'-bugs shooter.
Capcom spent just as much money (around £10 million, if you need a number) on advertising for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition as it did to make the game, so is it any surprise that people just can't stop buying it?
For the second week running and the third time overall the snow-trapped bug-shooter was the most popular game in the UK, stemming the upward flow of football perennials Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and FIFA 07.
One thing to note about the Top 10 this week is that nearly half of it is made up of games released on just one system. The Wii is well represented by both Wario Ware: Smooth Moves and Wii Play, and Nintendo completes its trifecta with New Super Mario Bros for DS re-entering the head of the chart.
Sony Online Entertainment may be wondering what sort of success it will have with Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, a new massively multiplayer online game for PC, which took a drubbing compared to the expansion for current genre leader World of Warcraft.
The Top 10 games for the week ending 3 February, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Capcom)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
- FIFA 07 (EA)
- Sega Mega Drive Collection (Sega)
- Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (Nintendo)
- Need For Speed: Carbon (EA)
- Wii Play (Nintendo)
- New Super Mario Bros (Nintendo)
- Cars (THQ)
- The Sims 2: Pets (EA)
