Rockstar Drives Vice City Stories to PS2
After insisting it wouldn't, Rockstar is porting its latest PSP offering.
When Rockstar was preparing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for the PSP, people wondered whether the game would go the route of its portable predecessor and end up on the PlayStation 2 anyway. Rockstar insisted it wouldn't.
Despite this, that's exactly what is happening. The company said this week that Vice City Stories, which debuted last autumn to a muted response relative to its predecessor, is coming to the PS2 this March.
The reason for the change of heart isn't clear, but the ostensible reason seems to be that Rockstar needs to get more out of the game.
While Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories was the game to have for the PSP when it launched, the same can't be said for Vice City Stories, which quickly sank down the sales chart. The PSP itself is also taking a beating from the DS. Rockstar didn't return calls for comment.
So can you expect anything new? In a word: No. Just like Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories will have the same missions and storyline as the PSP version, which was set a couple years before the events of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The game is due in the US on 6 March and in Europe on 9 March.
