New Mario, Zelda Games for Virtual Console
Super Mario World and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link go up at the Wii Shop.
Nintendo continued its steady trickle of classic games into the Wii Shop on Friday with games starring its biggest characters.
The big draw this week is Super Mario World (SNES, 800 Wii Points), the groundbreaking platformer from 1992 that saw the portly plumber face his biggest challenge yet.
There's also a step further back in time to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (500 Wii Points). This 1988 NES game took the elfin warrior out of his more normal style for a side-scrolling adventure that divides fans to this day. Bringing up the rear is Turbografx beat-'em-up Vigilante.
The addition of these latest titles brings to nearly 50 the count of games now available for the Virtual Console in Europe. Despite the slow rollout, the download service has been a hit for Nintendo. More than 1.5 million games have been downloaded worldwide from the Wii Shop since the console debuted last autumn.
