Epic on Second Gears of War Update
And according to Mark Rein there will be a surprise for downloaders too.
Gears of War has been the biggest game in the short life of the Xbox 360, with more than 3 million copies sold since last November. The obvious question is what's next, and many people are wondering about a PC release for the game. Epic's Mark Rein told Team Xbox that's going to happen, just not any time soon.
"People ask me, 'Are you going to do it on PC?' Yeah, eventually... I don't think that's any great secret that we would like to do it on PC, but for now it's a 360 game," Rein said in an interview posted this week on Team Xbox. "Eventually we'll get around to a PC version. I just don't know when."
Much more pressing is keeping its current audience happy, and that means more downloadable content. The first batch of two news multiplayer maps went up on Xbox Live Marketplace in early January.
Epic hasn't committed to the contents of the next update, but Rein teased that it would include a "fun little surprise". The update is due soon, but quite how soon is still up in the air.
"Definitely within a couple of months," said Rein.
Three million Xbox 360 owners just got a bit more excited.
