Halo 3 Beta Still Months Away
Despite what you may have heard, the taster of Master Chief's new adventure is not out this week.
Crackdown is getting a lot of buzz on its own merit but Halo fans are looking forward to it so that they can make sure they get a taste of Halo 3 early thanks to the included Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta that comes with the game. When that will kick off is now, however, in flux.
In a post on Bungie's site, community manager Frank O'Connor got a bit more specific on when people would be able to get at the beta, indicating what could be considered a slight delay. O'Connor said that the beta would not begin once Crackdown was in stores and that the start date was still being finalized.
"We're still aiming for a spring release, but it could be more like late spring," he wrote.
Bungie has also effectively trashed any talk of an earlier-than-expected release of the game. The first wave of promotional material was unveiled last week and included on it is the preliminary date of autumn 2007.
Halo fans, it seems, have a lot of waiting ahead of them.
