God of War PSP an All-New Adventure
Kratos's portable game will not be a mere port.
God of War for the PSP has had an unusual path into the media spotlight. Long rumoured, the game's existence was unofficially confirmed by promotional material inside the box for God of War II for PS2. Now the series director is speaking out about the game, and the news is good.
God of War fans can look forward to a new story for the PSP game rather than the mealy dreck foisted upon owners of the portable drowning in quick conversions of PS2 games.
"We're not gonna do a port," Barlog told GameSpot on the eve of the God of War II's release this week. "This isn't gonna be God of War I on the PSP, this is gonna be an all new adventure that ties into the overarching story."
Barlog went on to say that should Sony confirm God of War III - something that all involved in the series have gone to pains to avoid doing - the PSP game would feed directly into that storyline and bridge the console games.
"My big strategy for this entire franchise is that there's never going to be some solo, separated thing," Barlog told GameSpot. "Everything's going to deal with the overall plot."
