Ghosts Advance Onto UK Chart
Final Fantasy XII falls to Tom Clancy's latest.
In the battle of numerals it was 2 that beat out XII this week as Ubisoft's latest Tom Clancy game went straight to the top of the chart.
Spurred on by both single- and multiplayer demos on the Xbox Live Marketplace, shooter fans dipped back into the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series, helping it push ahead of Square Enix's well-advertised RPG Final Fantasy XII.
Further down the chart is the PS2 version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, a game Rockstar insisted would never get made. Following the relatively abysmal performance of the PSP iteration, this week's release of the budget PS2 edition helps Rockstar and struggling parent company Take 2 squeeze more life out of last year's PSP follow-up.
The only other new game to make the charts this week was Mario vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, but don't look for it below. The DS sequel only managed to come in at No. 32.
The Top 10 games for the week ending 10 March, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
- Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Ubisoft)
- Final Fantasy XII (Square Enix)
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (Rockstar)
- Sonic & The Secret Rings (Sega)
- Crackdown (Microsoft)
- The Sims 2: Seasons (EA)
- FIFA 07 (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
- Dr Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo)
- The Sims II (EA)
