Crackdown, DS Lead US Sales
And despite stock the PS3 fails to make much of a move.
Agents across the US signed up with gusto for duty in Crackdown, pushing Realtime Worlds' first Xbox 360 game right to the top of the chart for February, according to numbers from NPD Group reported by 1UP.
Crackdown sold 427,000 copies in February, kicking dust in the face of next game-only title Diddy Kong Racing for the DS. Splitting the two was Nintendo's Wii Play, which was no doubt driven ahead by its inclusion of a Wii Remote.
Though the Wii was the best selling home console for the month, Xbox 360 games pushed ahead, taking up five of the top 10 spots.
That still wasn't enough to make the Xbox 360 the top system overall for February, though. The DS sold 485,000 units during the month while another 335,000 people picked up a still-hard-to-find Wii. The Xbox 360 sold around 228,000 units - nearly double what the PS3 managed, despite it now being widely available.
All told, Americans spent nearly 30 per cent more on games in February than last year this time, and they spent twice as much on hardware.
Below are the figures for the best-selling games and hardware for February.
