Codemasters Plans a Next-Gen Hei$t
Will anyone care about petty carjacking when you can rob a bank vault? First screens.
While game makers have shown little hesitance in plumbing the depths of human criminality, one aspect that has gone largely overlooked is the idea of an organized robbery. Codemasters has noticed this and has announced work on a new game called Hei$t.
Due later this year on PC and next-gen consoles, Hei$t puts you in the gloves or Johnny Sutton, a man with thievery in his blood and gold on his mind - specifically the delicious bullion closeted away behind the imposing vaults of the San Francisco mint.
To work up to the big one, you'll need to pull off a range of smaller robberies and other jobs, such as knocking over bars, restaurants and strip clubs. Each robbery climaxes in a suitably heated getaway, meaning you'll need to keep your driving wits about you.
Maxx Kaufman, creative director at Bard's Tale remake director InXile Entertainment, taps classic heist movies as a big inspiration for the game.
Hei$t will be out at the end of 2007. You can find out more about it at www.codemasters.com/heist.
