Boogie on the Wii With EA
New rhythm game from Montreal featuring karaoke action. First screens.
Music games have come of age, with titles such as Guitar Hero and SingStar exploding into the mainstream. It's an expanding pie that EA is eager to slice into, and to do that it's turning to cute characters and karaoke.
Boogie is a new, character-focussed game being developed by EA's fledgling studio in downtown Montreal. The studio, which was responsible for SSX Blur on the Wii, is also bringing Boogie exclusively to Nintendo's console.
In the press release, EA says gamers will be "dancing, singing and starring in their own music videos" and later mentions how you'll be able to show off your "karaoke skills" - tacit confirmation of the much ballyhooed obscured microphone feature of the Wii remote.
"We're creating something new and different for gamers of all ages to enjoy; the complete party package where gamers can dance as well as sing," reckons EA's Alain Tascan.
EA is preparing Boogie for worldwide release only on the Wii later this year.
