HD Street Fighter II for Live, PSN
The Street Fighter II you love with brand new sprites. Also HD Super Puzzle Fighter II.
Capcom is getting serious about digital delivery. To prove it the company is bringing four games both old and new to online platforms on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this autumn.
Things start with Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, an acclaimed PlayStation puzzle game that is being re-imagined for Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PC. Specifically, that translates into new artwork, online modes and a better balance to gameplay.
Also from the archives is Capcom's big daddy, Street Fighter II, in the form of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. The game is getting a similar once-over to the aforementioned puzzle game, including on- and offline multiplayer on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
Of most interest to the legions of Street Fighter fans is undoubtedly the promise of brand new, high-resolution graphics, courtesy of Udon, the creators of the Street Fighter comic book that will be layered over the time-tested Street Fighter II code.
Capcom is reaching beyond its trove of classics too with two licensed games: the four-player cooperative arcade shooter Rocketmen: Axis of Evil (Xbox Live and PlayStation Network); and Talisman (PC, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network), a game based on the Games Workshop board game.
The four games together form the first wave of the newly christened Capcom Digital Initiative, which the company says it will commit to through a combination of rejuvenated oldies, licensed games and, later, wholly new experiences too.
