Beautiful Katamari Rolls Onto PS3, 360
Can you say 10,000-km balls of filth?
Bandai Namco's cult-hit Katamari series is headed to a new wave of consoles in Beautiful Katamari.
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game, first revealed in Japanese magazine Famitsu and since confirmed through an official Japanese site, features the trademark growing-ball-of-detritus gameplay that has endeared the series to gamers the world over.
With more power, come bigger balls - up to 10,000 km in one of the images on the promotional site. According to a translation of the Famitsu piece at IGN, Beautiful Katamari will also include online play, though Bandai Namco has yet to detail exactly how that will work.
The game is being directed by Jun Moriwaki, who previously worked on the PSP instalment, Me & My Katamari. Moriwaki reportedly said that a version for the Wii was considered but that the control mechanics pose an obstacle to those plans.
No European release date has been confirmed yet, but MCV reports that it will make it to the US by the end of the year.
