Faker Preempts Nintendo, Announces Game
Don't believe the things you're reading online about Excite Truck 2.
Much of the news hitting game sites comes from press releases sent out by publishers, but one trickster took matters into his (or her) own hands, announcing a sequel to Nintendo's Wii driving game Excite Truck - a sequel that doesn't exist.
"The press release says it comes from Vancouver," a Nintendo spokesperson told Kikizo. "We don't have an office in Vancouver."
The release, littered with spelling and grammatical errors, even included two doctored screenshots, purportedly showing how Nintendo's popular Mii avatars were being included in the game.
The document was sent from what appeared to be an authentic Nintendo of Canada e-mail address. A representative from a popular press release archive that received the release said the address was probably "spoofed".
So, no Excite Truck 2? Nintendo has nothing to say on any sequel of its own, but this one is fake.
