Getting Wii Back Into Stores
Nintendo admits there's been a problem and says there's a fix coming.
Nintendo may be crowing about selling nearly 6 million Wiis in 4 months but imagine how many the company could have sold if it had enough stock to go around?
Even now, nearly 5 months after the system made its worldwide debut, finding a Wii in a store is no easy task. The situation is such that Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata, admitted this week that things aren't as they should be.
He called the worldwide shortages of the console "abnormal" and said Nintendo was working to sort out the matter.
"We will do our best to offer the machine for those who are waiting," Iwata said in Tokyo this week, according to an Associated Press report.
Nintendo is expecting this to be a big year for its fledgling console. With nearly 6 million already sold, Nintendo is looking to sell another 14 million by next spring.
Nintendo is also growing its software house. This week the company said it would buy a majority share of Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos developer Monolith Soft from Bandai Namco, according to IGN.
