Does Blizzard Have More StarCraft Coming?
Something's in the works, that's for sure.
Blizzard, creator of record-breaking massively multiplayer online game World of Warcraft, will announce its long-awaited next game at an event in Seoul, South Korea, in May.
"We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more," a company spokesperson told Kotaku recently.
There's a lot of speculation about the identity of the project at the moment and most of that is settling on StarCraft. The decade-old real-time strategy is still one of the most popular games in South Korea, with top players earning themselves cash and celebrity.
The Blizzard spokesperson told Kotaku that the company does plan to "revisit the universe at some point in the future" but stopped short of tipping the series for a follow-up.
