New Gears of War Map Quartet Out in May
You can get them for free, but only if you're strong-willed.
Gears of War owners will have a little more to enjoy this week when Microsoft releases the next downloadable map pack for the Xbox 360-dominating shooter.
Dubbed Hidden Fronts, this latest download includes four maps and will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace from Thursday, 3 May, for 800 Microsoft Points (around £7).
Too rich for you? The maps will also be available for free on 3 September, if you've got the willpower to wait that long.
Hidden Front includes four maps: Bullet Marsh (swamp swarming with Kryll); Garden (dilapidated conservatory); Process (underground processing plant built for team play); and Subway (tunnels brimming with aliens).
The pricing scheme would appear to be a compromise between Epic's recently stated desires to put the maps out for free and Microsoft's decision to charge for them. The company did not respond to call for comment by press time.
