PS3, 360 Pose Unique Challenges for GTA IV
A riddle Rockstar is still struggling with, apparently.
All PlayStation 3s come with a hard drive and support for high-capacity Blu-ray discs. The Core Xbox 360, on the other hand, has no hard drive and, like the Premium and Elite models, only supports regular DVDs.
Does this matter? If you're Dan Houser, one of the lead creators on Grand Theft Auto IV, yes, it does.
In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, relayed by sister site CVG, Houser said that the team was having to think of ways around the limitations of the two systems, saying that both consoles offer "enormous challenges" and "particular pleasures".
While previous games in the Grand Theft Auto series have been available on more than one system, since Grand Theft Auto III they've only made the jump after debuting months before on the PlayStation 2, giving the developers more time to work on the problem.
Not so for Grand Theft Auto IV. The latest instalment in the series is due on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in October.
