Creation Is Key in New Tony Hawk Game
Want a better Tony Hawk? Make your own. First screens.
That Tony Hawk is no slouch. The Xbox 360 is less than two years old and already the skate-god is prepping for his third run.
This week Activision pulled back the covers on Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, the latest instalment in the long-running series, coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and more .
Proving Ground mixes the formula up a bit, offering players more freedom to design their own characters and tell their own stories. This create-your-own theme extends to a new video creation feature, in which you can slice together your sickest moves in your own skating videos.
Speaking of tricks, the Nail The Trick feature from last year's Tony Hawk's Project 8 has now expanded, bringing to grabs and manuals the same sort of customization Nail The Trick brought to flip tricks.
One aspect of the previous game that won't return is the one-world setup. Instead of all the action taking place in one continuous city, Proving Ground goes back to a multi-city structure that includes Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground will be out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. Activision is also planning versions of the game for Wii, DS and PlayStation 2.
