No New PlayStation 3 for Europe
But since you can add a bigger drive yourself, do you really want one?
Soon-to-be PlayStation 3 owners in South Korea will be able to buy a model of the console that includes bigger hard drive, but that particular version will not be coming to Europe.
Sony told Kikizo that South Koreans will be getting one model only when the console launches there. This model will include an 80 GB hard drive, which is bigger in part because of the more advanced broadband infrastructure in the country, according to a spokesperson.
Europeans will not be offered the option of buying a system with a bigger hard drive, said the company representative.
Apart from the hard drive, the console offered will be exactly the same as those already being sold in Europe, Japan and North America.
The PlayStation 3 features a user-replaceable hard drive. Unlike the Xbox 360, which uses proprietary hard drives, the PS3 supports standard 2.5" hard drives of any size.
