Spider-Man 3 Pummels Chart Rivals
The release of the PlayStation 3 version helps the webcrawler along.
Spider-Man 3 for the PlayStation 3 was finally released last Friday, a couple weeks after it hit most other platforms, and the uptake kept the web-head's latest right at the top.
The PlayStation 3 version accounted for nearly a fifth of all copies the game sold last week and the PlayStation 2 for nearly half, according to numbers from research firm Chart Track.
There was a not-unexpected jump for Microsoft's futuristic brawler Crackdown, which includes a code for the Halo 3 multiplayer beta (see our hands-on impressions) now running on Xbox Live. The game leaped to No. 8 this week, up from No. 18 the week before.
Wii Play continues its surprising run, slipping only slightly, down to No. 4 for the week. Nintendo's compendium of minigames is the first of five casual games in the Top 20 - a list that also includes new SingStar and Buzz! games for the PlayStation 2.
The Top 20 games for the week ending 19 May, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
