The Sims Looks to Silver Screen
A weird choice? Not according to 20th Century Fox.
In its relatively short, seven-year history, The Sims has gone from nothing to one of the best selling game series of all time. Having transitioned from PC superstar to console hit, The Sims is branching out further. Next up for the series: the big screen.
Movie giant 20th Century Fox has struck a deal with EA to make a movie based on the popular PC and console series, reports Hollywood trade paper Variety.
According to the report, the studio has tapped Brian Lynch to write the script. Lynch previously wrote and directed cult comedy Big Helium Dog.
EA's Rob Humble told Variety that The Sims tells an old story, "which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it", and that the movie would work from this base.
The Sims movie ditches its CG frills for real actors, though Fox has yet to name any names.
