One in Eight DS Owners Online
Nintendo details how its portable is faring online.
The DS has been nothing short of a smash hit for Nintendo, selling more than 40 million units around the world by the end of March. According to the latest figures from the company, many of those people have been playing online too.
Nintendo said on Wednesday that more than 5 million people - around an eighth of all DS owners - have used its Wi-Fi Connection service. And together they've had more than 200 million gameplay sessions.
There are more than 60 online-enabled games already out there but the list of the most popular includes all the usual suspects.
The top five games, according to Nintendo, are Animal Crossing: Wild World, Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime Hunters and, more recently, Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl (coming to Europe in late July).
The announcement comes just as Nintendo kicks off the online play service for the Wii, with last week's release of Mario Strikers Charged.
