Pirates, Mario Lose Out to Spider-Man 3
Another week on top for the web-spinner.
In the battle of movies-turned-games, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End may be the fresh fighter in the ring, but it's chart veteran Spider-Man 3 that is the one taking the glory.
For the fourth week in a row, Activision's adaptation (and more) of the superhero's big-screen exploits proved strong enough to earn the game the top spot. It wasn't just Pirates that missed. Also debuting last week was Mario Strikers Charged.
The plumber's latest football game - and the first online-enabled one for the Wii - came in strong, helped along, no doubt, by a heavy advertising campaign. Similarly propelled was Dr Kawashima's Brain Training for the DS, which, after nearly a year of release, was again in the Top 10.
One other newcomer this week was Konami's first Metal Gear Solid game for the PSP. The critics have been raving about Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, but a No. 30 placing was all Snake could manage this week.
