Need for Speed Goes Pro This Autumn
Next entry in the series on the way with new features in tow. First screens.
Forget the canyons - EA's next Need for Speed game is all about the thrill of head-to-head battle in custom-tuned racers.
Need for Speed: ProStreet, due this autumn for all platforms, remains laser-targeted on the street culture that has come to define the series while shifting the gameplay emphasis to the cars themselves.
You'll still be able to gussy up your ride whichever way you choose but getting the most out of it will demand that you get under the hood to tinker until the engine purrs just right.
EA's is already talking up the photo-realistic graphics, ostensibly giving the visual edge to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.
Online play is getting a boost. EA hasn't yet doled out specifics, but given the head-to-head nature of the rest of the game, it's not too hard to imagine what the company means when it says the game will "redefine the meaning of competitive social play".
Need For Speed: ProStreet is being developed by EA Black Box and will be out for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP, DS, PC and mobiles towards the end of the year.
