Pirates, Lara Squish Spidey
Spider-Man finally falls as Shadowrun has a muted debut.
Spider-Man 3's month-long command of the British charts is history but that's not the end for movie tie-ins.
After trailing Spidey's latest since its release, the heavily advertised (though critically maligned) Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End swashbuckled its way into the hearts, minds and wallets of British gamers.
Even more impressive is that the game managed to do that despite the appearance of a new game from the country's first lady of video games, Lara Croft, in a remake of her first adventure in Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
The Wii and the DS continue to bubble below the surface, as casual games and more approachable fare were rejoined by New Super Mario Bros in the Top 20.
With the Halo 3 beta test still dominating Xbox 360 owners' attention, Microsoft's cross-platform shooter Shadowrun got off to something off a slow start. The beta is due to end soon and that should leave shooter fans itching for something else to play.
