Sony CEO Says Time Will Solve PS3 Woes
And Sir Howard says Sony is refining its ideas on a price cut for this year.
The PlayStation 3 is taking something of a beating at the hands of new consoles from Nintendo and Microsoft but Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer says it's only a matter of time before the PS3 comes into its own.
"PlayStation 3's travails are usually solved by time. And it will have an instant gratification environment, not only in life but in the press as well as everything else," Stringer told the Financial Times.
Stringer was commenting on the comparisons between the PS3 and Wii and Xbox 360. He noted that the PlayStation 2 was still selling "gangbusters".
While Stringer was quick to compliment Nintendo for its approach to the Wii, he denied that the PlayStation 3 suffered from a lack of creativity, saying: "Fun is in the eye of the experiencer."
The issue on many people's minds is price. Stringer admitted that many would like it to be lower, and he said Sony was looking at how much it could afford to bring down the price.
"That's what we're studying at the moment; that's what we're trying to refine," he said, adding that a decision could come by the end of the year.
