EA Dates Boogie
Circle your calendar for the arrival of the Wii karaoke-slash-dancing game.
EA is no unwilling observer to the glut of music games due later in the year. The company is working on Rock Band, a rival to the incumbent hit Guitar Hero series. But the company is also crafting another music-themed game, this one a simpler affair for the Wii.
EA confirmed on Friday that Boogie will be out for the Wii in Europe on 31 August.
The company also unveiled some of the artists that will be appearing in the game, including: The Jackson 5, Kool & The Gang, M.C. Hammer, The Village People, Cyndi Lauper and Britney Spears.
Where other music games rely on bespoke controllers for their novelty, Boogie, in development at EA's studio in Montreal, latches on to the motion sensors of the Wii remote.
The game relies less on precise button presses and more on how you handle the controller, whose movements are translated in dance moves onscreen. You'll also be able to sing along to the music using the included microphone add-on.
