God of War Creator Clears Up PSP Confusion
Is the game going to run at 333 MHz? Find out inside.
Sony has joined Microsoft in bypassing the media by speaking straight to its customers through an official company blog. One of the latest posters to the appropriately named PlayStation.Blog was none other than Cory Barlog, fresh off his stint at the helm of mega-action game God of War II. The Sony director spoke of his involvement with new PSP entry God of War: Chains of Olympus, explaining how he was more hands-off this time than he liked to be.
Barlog also praised developer Ready At Dawn (who previously worked on Daxter for PSP) and dropped information about some of the new capabilities of the portable.
Sony recently released yet another firmware update for the PSP, which included giving developers access to a 333 MHz processor speed rather than the underclocked 222 MHz they've been shackled with until now.
"I hear that the official news about unlocking the PSP processor speed is out there," Barlog wrote.
"Many people are asking if God of War: Chains of Olympus is going to take advantage of this. The short answer is yes we are! Ready At Dawn has been doing some pretty amazing stuff with the PSP since the early days of the platform. Every time I see a new build I am more amazed with what we're able to pull off with the PSP."
Word quickly spread that Chains of Olympus was already using the 333 MHz mode, but it was tempered just as swiftly by Ready At Dawn's Didier Malenfant, who told Kotaku that Barlog was being misunderstood:
"Everything that was shown of GoW: Chains of Olympus so far was running at 222 MHz like everyone else. We are planning on having the final game run at 333 MHz but this likely won't be just to improve the graphics which we think are already pretty awesome."
See for yourself what the game looks like when God of War: Chains of Olympus arrives for PSP this Christmas.
