Fahrenheit Creators Get Emotional for PS3
Quantic Dream is bringing its unique style to Sony.
It was a little under two years ago that French developer Quantic Dream decided to tell a different kind of story in PlayStation 2 murder mystery Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America).
The game won critical acclaim for its daring approach to story and gamers lapped it up, too, sending it to the top of the sales chart in countries across Europe.
Now Quantic Dream is back, the company having signed an agreement with Sony that will see the developer's next game appearing only on the PlayStation 3.
Why PlayStation 3? According to Quantic Dream founder David Cage, Sony's console is the only one that can deliver on the promise of "meaningful content based on players' emotional involvement".
Neither Sony nor Quantic Dream has shown its hand yet, but it's clear that the unnamed PS3 project will bring the same sort of attention to story as Fahrenheit did.
According to Sony's Michael Denny the game will "engage players at an emotional level never experienced before".
Frustratingly, details beyond that will have to wait. Sony says it will be showing more of the game later this year.
