Nintendo Releases, Recalls Mario Party 8
And you can blame a naughty word for that.
No, you weren't imagining things. Mario Party 8 was on store shelves for a short while over the weekend. But after discovering a production problem that resulted in some unfortunate text making it into the game, Nintendo quickly moved to bring the game back in.
Nintendo blamed an assembly error for the recall, saying that the wrong version of the game had made it into the British boxes.
From reports over the weekend, it appears that the US version, which includes a mention of the word "spastic", was sent to UK stores. And because of that word's overtly negative connotations in the UK, Nintendo decided to recall all copies of the game to preempt any public outcries.
Nintendo could not be reached to confirm when the game would be back in stores but a note on Nintendo's site/ says the company will announce the new release date shortly.
