Call of Juarez Dev Shows Merc Game
Find out more about Techland's open-ended FPS. New screens.
Polish developer Techland showed with Call of Juarez. that it can pull off a Wild West themed shooter, but how will it do with something more contemporary?
The studio said on Wednesday that its new "open-ended" first-person shooter, Warhound, is due for release next year.
The draw here is what Techland is calling "complete freedom of choice" - essentially letting you decide for yourself what missions you want to play and when you want to play them, choosing your weapons, vehicles and tactics to suit your playing style.
Your character, too, will advance as you play. Warhound offers training for you to boost your character's skills in, for example, shooting or climbing.
The story puts you in the well-worn boots of an ex-soldier now working as a defence contractor. As such, you'll earn money for completing missions and spend your earnings on weapons, mission intelligence and more.
The game is also the latest to opt for a detailed cover system, letting you use the environment to your advantage.
Warhound is coming sometime in 2008 for PC and Xbox 360.
