Watch Sky on Your PSP
Rupert Murdoch wants you no matter where you are.
You may think of your PSP as a games machine but Sony has insisted all along that the portable is much more than that. A new deal signed this week may be just the thing to prove it.
On Friday Sony and Sky said they are forming a joint venture company to work on delivery digital video to PSP owners in the UK and Ireland.
This on-demand service will let PSP owners download clips and movies straight to their portables.
A good idea, yes, but what will you be able to download? Sony has been quiet on the types of video you'll be able to download but says it is already in talks with entertainment content providers across Europe.
The new service will add to the increasing repertoire of the PSP. Already it is able to play music and movies off memory cards and the PSP's own UMD discs and the portable to able to link up to the PS3 to access any content stored there remotely.
Sky, meanwhile, has been moving away from being simply a TV provider. The company has recently started pushing its Sky Anywhere system, which lets Windows users download movies straight to their PCs.
More details are expected from Sony at the Games Convention, taking place in Leipzig, Germany, from 22 August.
