Monstrous Opening for Pokémon
Plus overall chart domination by Nintendo.
With the two new Pokémon games for the DS in the Top 3 and three Brain games in the Top 10, this week's sales chart makes for enjoyable reading for Nintendo and its fans.
Just as in Japan and the US, Pokémon Diamond was the better performer of the DS pair, topping the chart and becoming the fastest selling game ever for Nintendo's portable and the second-fastest selling Pokémon game behind Pokémon Yellow.
But it wasn't easy. Transformers, Activision's game based on the robot extravaganza now in cinemas, sold a mere 200-or-so copies less than Pokémon Diamond.
The rest of the Top 10 is testament to the success of Nintendo's outreach to the mainstream, with six games exclusive to the Wii and the DS making up the bulk of the top of the ranking.
