Command and Conquer 3 Expands in Spring
And you can expect to see a lot of that bald man, Kane.
Five months after resurrecting the Command & Conquer series for the third instalment, Tiberium Wars, EA is wading back into the real-time strategy franchise with the first official expansion pack.
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath is this time around focussed more on the glabrous Kane, telling a story that spans the decades between the Second and Third Tiberium Wars and goes further too.
Long-time fans of the series should slot right into the story, which will be splayed out in new live-action clips starring perennial Kane actor Joe Kucan.
EA is also digging back into the gameplay, offering a few extra features.
New to the game is a global domination metagame that Jim Vessella, producer of the game at EALA, describes as "Risk on steroids".
Essentially this new strategy mode lets you command battles across the world. Once your forces engage with an enemy, you'll drill down to play out the battles using the familiar gameplay.
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath will have new units, powers, upgrades and structures for both the Brotherhood of Nod and Global Defense Initiative factions and also new sub-factions.
Console owners aren't being ignored. They can expect a new "radial" interface that allows players to manage their bases from anywhere on the map.
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath will be out for PC and Xbox 360 in the spring of 2008. You can find out more in EA's Command & Conquer TV webcast.
