TimeSplitters 4 Coming Soon - Free Radical
Not yet signed, but coming soon, says developer.
Who can forget TimeSplitters? With its fast-paced gameplay, vibrant art style and excellent multiplayer features, the first-person shooter series by Nottingham-based Free Radical Design has won a dedicated fanbase since it first debuted on PS2 nearly six years ago.
That fanbase is celebrating this week with the news that Free Radical is indeed working on a fourth TimeSplitters. Originally published by Eidos, the series was handed over to Electronic Arts for the most recent game - 2005's TimeSplitters: Future Perfect - where it's likely to remain for the upcoming TimeSplitters 4.
"In the past, TimeSplitters has been very satirical at the expense of movies, this time it will be satirical at the expense of video games," Free Radical's script writer Rob Yescombe told prominent games blog, Kotaku.
The report states that Yescombe reiterated that Free Radical is hard at work on TimeSplitters 4, and is still in the early stages of development. However, the Free Radical source could not confirm what consoles it will appear on, stressing that the project is "unsigned at the moment". We expect the next we'll hear about TimeSplitters 4 will most likely be direct from EA - if, indeed, EA is to be the publisher. Either way, a new TimeSplitters is good news for the time being.
