BioShock PC Demo Due on Monday
Is this going to be the game of the year? Get a taste tonight ahead of the release later this week.
It's been getting overwhelmingly positive reviews in its console incarnation, now PC owners can get an early taster of BioShock. Publisher 2K Games revealed this weekend on its Cult Of Rapture community site that a PC demo for BioShock would be released at 7.00pm EST on Monday (midnight Tuesday in the UK).
According to the announcement, the publisher is already allowing pre-loading of the demo at popular download site FilePlanet.
Be warned - you'll need to upgrade your video card drivers for the best experience. The site says for both ATI and Nvidia card owners to check with the manufacturers to download the latest drivers.
BioShock is a story-heavy first-person shooter set in an underwater city called Rapture. The game, which went on sale early in some stores in the US, has been getting top marks from the media.
Story is so important in BioShock that lead creator, Ken Levine, posted on the official game forums recently to suggest that those looking to buy the game this week avoid message boards that may have spoilers.
"Our goal in making the game was to thrill and, often, surprise you," he wrote.
"Please don't ruin other people's experience by revealing secrets in unmarked threads, and if you want to enjoy the game to its fullest, stay away from any threads that might ruin the fun for you. With a game like BioShock, it will really make a difference."
BioShock is out in the UK on Friday, 24 August, in both regular and limited editions for Xbox 360 and PC.
