Ten-Player Online Play Comes to FIFA 08
Not available from day one, but it'll be a free download.
It's not quite the 22-player Holy Grail, but EA today came one step closer to that lofty goal, announcing that this year's FIFA entry will let 10 people play online together.
Be A Pro: Online Team Play is an extension of the focussed career play of Be A Pro mode that will debut with FIFA 08 in September.
Be A Pro mode is just that, a new mode for this year's instalment that lets you pick a spot on a team and live out that player's football life, learning position-centred skills to hone your role in the team.
The new online extension, available as a free download for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 about six to eight weeks after the game's release, let's five players come together to half-fill a squad and then take their collective skills online to battle similarly composed teams.
FIFA series producer Joe Booth call this a "first step" towards realizing the dream of full team play.
FIFA 08 is coming for all consoles, platforms and mobile phones on 28 September.
