Free Multiplayer Maps for Gears of War
As long as you managed to hold off on buying the for-pay ones from the summer.
If you've waited this long to extend your Gears of War experience with the Hidden Fronts map expansion pack released earlier this year, you'll be pleased to hear that the once for-pay add-on is going free.
Hidden Fronts went on sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace in June and has been downloaded more than half a million times already. The pack includes four new maps: Bullet Marsh (swamp), Garden (overgrown conservatory), Process (underground plant), and Subway (subway station).
All this is now yours, available as a free download from Microsoft's online marketplace.
There's still no word on whether Microsoft will offer Xbox 360 owners more content for the singleplayer parts of the game.
This could could include the five extra missions that are being added to the Gears of War for PC, due this Christmas. But so far Microsoft and Epic have said the content will only show up in the PC version of the game.
