BioShock Holds Off Tiger Woods in the UK
Britons continue their infatuation with the horror shooter.
Tiger Woods' new game was out on Friday for several platforms but, even combined, EA's golfing game just couldn't hack it and failed to dislodge BioShock from the top of the UK sales chart.
BioShock's combination of action, scares and philosophy has endeared it to critics and players alike. 2K Games' relentless advertising for the game probably didn't hurt the game's performance either.
There's the usual glut of Nintendo games on the chart this week, with one notable exception: Wii Play. Normally among the five most popular games each week fell, Wii Play fell completely out of the Top 20.
Why? We asked Nintendo and all we got back was a cryptic, "Sold out" - no mean feat for a game coming up on its first year on sale. Expect the game to surge back soon.
With the all=important autumn almost here, publishers are again starting to put out games more regularly. Some of the new releases this week include: Stuntman: Ignition (No. 9), Medieval II: Total War - Kingdoms (16), and EA's family friendly music game Boogie, which debuted at No. 29.
The Top 20 games for the week ending 1 September, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
